Algae-UK has been working with some ECR-led algae groups – Microalgae Recombinants, UKCyanoNet and Euglena International Network – to run a fortnightly “coffee break” style webinar series on Fridays at 10:30 BST. The aim is for these to be a supportive environment for ECR to present their work, hear about research being undertaken in other groups and to have the chance to connect with others in the algae community to share challenges, find collaborators and potential career opportunities.
The next sessions are on the 7th and 21st May and these a couple of introductory sessions with a number of elevator pitch style presentations from a number of groups, interspersed with a short breakout session where people get to chat quickly about themselves within the smaller breakout groups. Following this there will be a series of longer presentations on a range of topics, along with the same breakout session and a couple of elevator pitches.
