Golden Membrane Weed floating in Falmouth Bay (Cornwall, U.K.).

Image description:

Golden Membrane Weed (Botryocladia wrightii) is native to East Asia but made its way to Europe in the 1970s and was first recorded in the UK in 2013. A gelatinous red seaweed with a varied branching pattern, it is attached to shells in the subtidal. By using a narrow aperture and high shutter speed, only the seaweed is lit up by the strobes, with the open water background remaining black. Taken with an Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II, Olympus 60mm Macro M.Zuiko Lens, a Nauticam EMWL wetlens and two Inon D200 strobes.
