During my research work in commercial seaweed cultivation an essential component is how seaweed attaches itself onto substrates, and how we can improve this process for more resilient, successful crops. While focus is often put onto the beautifully swaying thalli, when observing the attachment structures of seaweed, in this case sugar kelp (Saccharina latissima), they reveal their own beauty, interwoven and connected.
