The recently published article by Nieva et al: “Genetic structure of amphi-Atlantic Laminaria digitata (Laminariales, Phaeophyceae) reveals a unique range-edge gene pool and suggests post-glacial colonization of the NW Atlantic“, has received national attention for its findings that kelp off the coast of Scotland, Ireland and France that has survived since the last ice age, around 16,000 years ago.
