The meeting will be held at QUB Riddel Hall (https://www.qub.ac.uk/events-at-queens/VisitingUs/) on 7–8 January 2027, with a drink’s reception and registration on the evening of Wed 6th January.
The meeting covers a broad range of topics, from fundamental seaweed and algal phycology through to applied research.
The sessions will be:
- General Phycology (taxonomy, ecology, physiology, evolution, biodiversity, and algal biology)
- Applied Phycology (Cultivation, aquaculture, ecosystem services, industry, bioeconomy, food, feed, and environmental applications)
- Marine Heat waves & coastal restoration (Seaweed restoration, biocarbon, impact of climate change on our coastlines)
- Manton Prize (PhD students only)
- Lough Neagh Special session
- Biotechnology & Applications (Translating marine resources into commercial applications)
- Science Outreach (Outreach, education, citizen science, public engagement, and art–science)
