Emanuela Samartiani writes books for children explaining the mysteries of the microscopic world. In this short interview with Martyn Kelly, Chair of the BPS Algal Outreach Committee, she explains where her fascination with microscopic life comes from, and why she decided to become an author. She also reads from her book, the Hidden World of Diatoms, and shows us some of the watercolour images, painted by Helena Kreissel, with which her book is illustrated.
